There is so much wrong with this scenario. I plan on filing a formal complaint as well, but I wanted people to be aware of how this particular location operates.
My 2.5 month old daughter has been seen here several times. We were so unhappy with this office that now go somewhere else. You never get to see the pediatrician, you are always seen by one of the 2 nurse practicioners. The nurse's assistants are very rude. No one informs you of anything that will be taking place at your child's next visit. Nothing is discussed unless YOU bring it up. They just made an appointment for my daughters 2 month vaccinations but explained nothing to me, instead gave me a pamphlet to read through. They very briefly look over your child and then tell you when to make your next appointments then, when you go up to the front desk they have no idea why you need to come back!!! The communication between the nurses and reception is horrible!! Save you time and skip right by this place!
I was happy to have a SouthCoast walk-in now in Dartmouth. I had used the one in Fairhaven on a few occasions, with good results. However, I sent my daughter here yesterday and it was a joke. First, the online system didn't save her appt (I did it myself, so I know it was done correctly). When she arrived she didn't have an appt, so she used the check-in system and selected her symptom. The system indicated that they didn't treat that symptom (severe stomach pain). She spoke with the receptionist, who apparently called someone to come out. I'm not sure if it was a doctor, nurse or PA, but in any case, they PUBLICLY asked her about her symptoms, in front of a full waiting room. Without any type of physical examination, she was told to go to the ER for a CAT scan, because they can't do those at the clinic. Really? So my daughter left.
I've been seeing Lisa for routine care for about two years now, and am thoroughly satisfied. She is caring & knowledgeable, takes the time to listen to my concerns and respects my health care choices. The office staff are friendly and efficient. The waiting is clean and comfortable--though I could do without the TV blaring NECN news all the time. My only complaint is about the person who draws blood. She sometimes lets her moods show unprofessionally and she isn't very skillful. Despite having really good veins, I've had bruising after each blood test. That's the only reason I don't give this office five stars.
Dr. Alexandre's office gives efficient care. I read the two reviews of a pediatrician in this complex, which is so different from my own experience with this PCP. Like most big medical practices, it all depends on the provider. Dr. Alexandre and her NP, Lisa Farias, form an effective partnership.
