When I went into my initial consultation for Lasik, the woman who did all of my measurements whom I believe's name was Beth was outstanding! She was super informative, professional, personable, and made me feel very comfortable about a surgery I have been postponing for years due to the cost, and naturally fear. After the consultation she had walked me down to met with Karen, who goes over pricing, pre-op/ post-op instructions, etc. Karen also was amazing. She helped me look into my insurance coverage and had told me she would look more into it on Monday morning (the consult was on the Friday evening). As promised, she called me back with answers by Monday at 10am. I was so happy with her timely response. These two woman both deserve 5 stars.
I 'm a returning patient, and I glad I did . The whole staff was very good.
Today is my 4th day after surgery so I am now 5 days without glasses!! I spent a lot of time researching LASIK before I decided to go for consultations so I already had a fair understanding of the process. The knowledge I received at Eye Health Vision Center in Dartmouth, as well as the testing and evaluations I received there, WERE FAR SUPERIOR to the other consultation I had at TLC laser vision center in Providence!! I received a much more informative and thorough consultation at Eye Health and I felt that I received a much higher level of care and personal attention. The entire staff was very friendly and informative and they answered all my questions and even gave me more information that I did not think to ask about!! Every detail was explained to me several times throughout the screening process making me feel very much at ease, comfortable, and excited enough to move forward. When my consultation screening was complete, it was reviewed by a doctor right away so I knew instantly if I was a good candidate or not. (At TLC I was told it would take 3 days for a doctor to review my chart and get back to me. I learned later on that it is because their doctors are not local and are flown in, which did not sit well with me and which may also be the reason that the price I was quoted before even being seen, was almost twice as much.) At Eye Health Vision Center, the doctors are all local and are there on the premises every day!! I cannot say enough good things about my experience or Dr. Gerber and the staff at EYE HEALTH!! If I could give them 10 stars instead of 5 I would, they are an amazing group of eye health providers and caregivers and they have changed my life. I am eternally grateful for their experience and their personalized care, my only regret is that i waited so long. Thank you Dr. Gerber and the entire staff at Eye Health for making my dream of a life without glasses become a reality. xoxo (ps. now better than 20/15 without glasses)
Now, here comes the bad part. My surgery was scheduled for this Friday (the 28th of July), so knowing yesterday and the next two days I need to follow the pre op instructions I pulled out my packet they provided me. For one, they tell you to stop wearing your contacts only three days before surgery, as opposed to every other office who say minimum 1 week without contacts before surgery. After doing an immense amount of research as to why not wearing contacts minimum 1 week before surgery was so crucial I began to become extremely concerned. They also have you doing pre-op eye drops 4/ day 2 days before surgery. These eyedrops burn very badly. Another concern I was having, is this normal? If you do need to wait longer without contacts before getting surgery, I would have had to post pone the surgery, which is why I didn't want to keep putting eye drops in that hurt for no reason. I tried to call the office more than a handful of times yesterday afternoon/ evening, and all this morning/ afternoon with no response. After not getting a response at all I tried to be connected to a different line which is when I was connected with Cathy. This woman was the RUDEST RECEPTIONIST I have ever heard on the phone. Ultimately, she is the main reason I will not be showing up for my surgery Friday. She was extremely dismissive and had zero interest in helping me even after I was telling her my concerns are urgent. She didn't even ask me what my concerns were, instead, she basically told me no one was there and to call back tomorrow (this was at 3pm). There was no sign of urgency and it seemed like I was bothering her. 6:15pm and I still have had zero response from anyone at that office. This office at the end of the day when I needed them were neglectful and did not respond to a patient in need. I took days off of work, paid over $100 out of pocket for eye drops, had to apply for a CareCredit card so I could afford this surgery, and now due to this offices negligence all of this was for nothing.
DO NOT GET LASIK AT THIS OFFICE.
FIND ANOTHER OFFICE.
The wait can be long sometimes, but I just plan for that. The doctors here are amazing. I have several issues and have had multiple surgeries. They are so knowledgeable and up to date with new procedures. I really like how they follow up on everything and keep an " eye" on you.
When you actually get service, they do a good, thorough job. No complaints in that department. When it comes to alerting you to rescheduling, they're awful. It has happened twice now and I was never given notification (and they have BOTH numbers I can be reached at) until I was in the building. I can understand it happening once, but more than that is ridiculous. What if I had had to request time off of work?
